What is Custom Redirects

Redirect to Blog means turning an invalid webpage or URL to a valid webpage or URL. Custom Redirects is a feature of BlogSpot that allows us to redirect one post of our blog to another post.

It means that you send traffic coming to one of the URLs so that your visitors can get the right information and their user experience is good.

Note: Through custom redirects, you can redirect only the URL of the same blog, will not be able to redirect your blog to another website/blog.

Custom Redirect can be done in Blogger in two ways.
  • 302 Redirect: This is a Temporary Redirect. When we want to show a second page in place of a web page URL for a short time, we use this redirect. There is no link juice transfer.
  • 301 Redirect: This is a Permanent Redirect. When we redirect the URL of a page or post permanently to another URL, it is used only. The link Juice that resides in 3 rd redirects to the old URLs gets transferred completely to the new link.
Now you will have a question about why we should use custom redirect and how to do it.

When should redirects?

1: If you are changing the permalink of the old post in the blog, in that case, you can custom reorder. When you change, update, or delete the old permalink, due to being indexed in Google, this old link shows in the search engine and whenever a visitor clicks on that link it comes a 404 error message. In this situation, you can redirect the old link to the new link, so that the traffic coming to your old link also comes in the new link.

2: There are some posts in Blog that get outdated after some time. That post is not in any use now, you can redirect that type of post.

3: Many times we make a spelling mistake in our URL and our attention goes on long after that. If you change that URL then you will lose the ranking, the best option is to redirect the old URL to the new URL.

4: If you are changing your blog from Blogger to Wordpress, both of them have the permalink structure.

For Wordpress:
